When everywhere you turn, there is a scripture, word or message that seems to be repeating itself?
I have definitely felt that way this week.
Everywhere I have turned, I have had the reminder that God loves us, period. It is not about what we can do for him, how well we can behave, etc.
He. Loves. Us.
Our good deeds don’t give us a “get out of hardships free” card. Our good deeds don’t make him loves us any more.
I think a lot of us have this idea in our heads that the more obedient we are, the more we will receive in return. As Suzanne Eller stated in her devotional this morning, our faith has no strings attached. There are countless examples in the bible where his obedient followers still endured hard times.
It is our HUMAN nature to want to know exactly what step we will take next, what path we will walk down and exactly how our life will play out. Our FAITH reminds us that as long as we believe in God, he has this all planned out for us already.
Obedience to God does not lead us where we WANT to go, but to a better relationship with him. I know from a personal standpoint, my quality of life always seems greater when I am in a close relationship with God.
How great it is to know that we’re not walking in this world alone.
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” -Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
